The Wood
What's in the shop right now
Every piece is built from solid hardwood. These are the species I have on hand today — commissions can be made in any of them. Stock rotates, so ask if you have something particular in mind.
Black Walnut
Deep chocolate brown with the occasional purple cast. The studio favorite — rich, hard-wearing, and only better with age.
Figured Maple
Pale and creamy with rippling curl that catches the light. A bright, striking counterpoint to the darker woods.
Cherry
Warm reddish-brown that deepens to a glowing amber over the years. Smooth, even grain that finishes beautifully.

How it's made
Every piece, start to finish, by one pair of hands
No production line, no outsourcing. Just careful work and a short list of steps I never skip.

Talk it through
We start with a conversation — the room, how you'll use it, the wood you're drawn to, and your budget. No detail is too small.
- 02
Design & mill
I sketch the piece, source the right board, and mill it by hand — reading the grain to decide exactly how it should be cut and joined.
- 03
Build & finish
Joinery, sanding through the grits, and a hand-rubbed oil finish that deepens the color and protects the piece for decades.
- 04
Deliver local
I finish, wrap, and deliver it myself so it arrives exactly as intended — and I'm around if it ever needs a touch-up.

Built in a small shop, meant for your home
Stagg started the way a lot of good things do — with one project that turned into a hundred. What began as a workbench in a garage is now a small studio turning out furniture and kitchenware for neighbors, friends, and anyone who values something made to last.
Based in Northeast Ohio, I sell locally and build locally. If you've seen a piece at a market or a shop around the region, this is where it came from — and where the next one gets made. Local pickup and hand delivery throughout Northeast Ohio.
